The current school board has been mentioned as one of the most cohesive boards in the area. This is due to the attitudes and practices of each of the current members. We are all in our positions to move the district forward, educationally and financially. And all of us care about the youth of Vallejo.

I have dedicated the vast majority of my life in developing and supporting programs to help our youth. After working in Business for 16 years and feeling unfulfilled, I started substitute teaching which led to a full time teaching position and found my true purpose in life. Educating and mentoring our youth. As your Board Trustee, I continue my life's passion and will work everyday to ensure that Vallejo's children have a well-rounded education that prepares them for whatever path they choose to follow.

Vallejo City Unified School District On the Move

The Vallejo Board of Education is unified in its mission to move students forward and to do so in a professional and dignified manner. Although Board members may have different views on specific issues, they are in agreement that they can agree to disagree and still move the district forward in a progressive way.

Under the Boards Leadership, the former Superintendent Dr. Adam Clark was able to work on improving the rate of students attending school (Average Daily Attendance), making the necessary cuts to keep the district solvent, and changing the culture and climate of the district by allowing a more bottom-up hierarchy. He was a nuts and bolts leader, working on areas that had quite visible deficiencies.

Now the district is looking for a new superintendent to focus on not only the nuts and bolts, but the vision of the district. Christy has been instrumental in pushing for a Strategic Plan for the district, allowing input from the Vallejo community. Although, Covid 19 has delayed the process, the Strategic Plan will be developed and the Board will ensure its implementation.
